What types of authentication are there?

One of the measures of the PSD2 directive is to use strong authentication measures or double authentication. One of the goals is to reduce fraud and increase security. This means that to authorize an operation it will be necessary to use at least two of these methods:

-Inherent element: fingerprint, iris or facial recognition, common systems in mobile devices.
-Element owned: something physical such as a card, a digital certificate or a mobile phone.
-Known item: a PIN number or password.

As these control measures are independent of each other, in the event that one of them is compromised for cybersecurity purposes, the risk of threat decreases since it will be necessary to pass a double control filter. This, without a doubt, adds a reason for peace of mind for users regarding the protection of their data and financial activities.
